First Look at DELIVERY MAN

What is family?  Years ago, it was mom, dad, and 2 kids living under one roof. But the times have changed things considerably. Now we have many generations living under one roof, single heads of households, domestic partnerships, same sex couples, adoption, foster care, etc. Some families are formed by love and respect for one another without shared genetics.  Although they may not be what we consider conventional, these are indeed families.

On November 22, 2013, Delivery Man will open in theaters. This is a heart warming story of an "unconventional" family.
Please enjoy the trailer premier for Delivery Man.

Something Borrowed Movie Review

Storyline
Friendships are tested and secrets come to the surface when terminally single Rachel falls for Dex, her best friend Darcy's fiancé.

I was able to attend a screening of Something Borrowed by Warner Brothers Studio. The movie is based the the book, Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. This is a must see romantic comedy.

Ginnifer Goodwin plays Rachel who is the girl next door best friend to life of the party, Darcy played by Kate Hudson. Even Colin Egglesfield as Dex, the fiancé of Darcy and long time crush of Rachel, makes a believable addition to the love triangle. You cheer on Rachel and love to hate Darcy. Dex is the character all women can hate or love, depending on their own romantic situation. To me, the runaway star of this film is John Krasinski as Ethan the best guy friend of the girls since youth. His flawless humor and quick wit added so much to the movie that it went from ok to fabulous for me. He adds warmth, humor, and heart to the film. I had no idea that his was such a big part of the film. And without him, the film would definitely be mediocre.

The film is definitely a chick flick. But the surprising addition of Steve Howey (of Reba fame) as Marcus, Dex's best friend, makes the movie appeal to the men who were forced to attend by the women in their lives. Howey plays the ultimate male player and will have the guys going "right on" with every trophy attempt.

I definitely give this movie a thumbs up. Go see it. Something Borrowed opens in theaters May 6th.

I received my screening passes from NW32 and my opinions in this review are my own.

Beastly

I was able to score a couple of screening tickets for the new movie Beastly. It is the classic Beauty and the Beast story with a modern twist. It stars Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Neil Patrick Harris. The movie opens this Friday in theaters.

I wish I could say, run out and see it but I can't. It is a definite wait for it to come out on dvd movie. I thought Alex Pettyfer started out strong. In the first ten minutes of the film, he made you think wow what a jerk. This is gonna be good. But the rest of his performance couldn't hold up. The beast's look was very good. It was a unique interpretation and one that is easy to connect with in today's society.

Enter Vanessa Hudgens. She is pretty. But there isn't a lot of talent behind that constant smile and smoldering eyes. There is no depth to her. Her character had plenty of depth, Hudgens didn't have the ability to pull it off. I feel that she sabotages Pettyfer's performance. I did enjoy seeing Mary-Kate Olsen as the witch. Also not a great performance, but she at least she was believable as her character.

My favorite performance was by Neil Patrick Harris as the blind tutor. Every time the man was on screen, his wit and charm had the entire audience captivated. His performance was entertaining and worth my time in the theater.

The story line had big holes in it and sprinkled in a little of this and a little of that so it would resemble the fairy tale. The problem with filming a modern day fairy tale, is that everyone knows the story. The writers get lazy and give the audience an incomplete storyline.

The movie is rated PG-13. It is not the fairy tale that your little ones would enjoy. But the tween and the teen crowd will enjoy the movie as they did at the screening. Between the non-execution of a really good classic story and the absolutely wrong choice for the heroine, I give the film 2 stars for trying.
